Raisins are dried grapes.
There are different ways of making raisins st home.
One is to boil briefly in water and sundry which is what we have done here.
The others are to use a dehydrator, or dry in the oven or wash and dry under direct sunlight for two weeks.
Raisins can be made from any fresh grapes be they black or green or any colour.
We have shown an easy hygienic way to make raisin from fresh grapes
Wash grapes in clean water two to three times
Heat water in a pan
When the water is hot add grapes
When the water boils and grapes rise up switch off the flame
This should take about 3 minutes
Remove the grapes and drain on a colander
Spread the grapes away from each other on a clean bottom cloth
Place them on a basket with heels. The basket or tray should be open and allow air from beneath too. For this reason, it should not be flat
Now let the grapes dry in direct sunlight.
We allowed it to dry on our terrace for two days
In Mumbai, summers are very hot and so they dried and shriveled within two days.
These raisins were from green grapes which were long and thin. So the raisins are long and thin.
They taste better after a fortnight when turning slightly sour.
